My name is Clarisse Mekongo aka Kirii'ah, I'm an artist. I quit my 9 to 5 job to realize my dream as a full-time artist. I am a singer, photographer, jewelry maker, designer and a storyteller... I need your help to pay for the illustration of my first book, The Gift, A bilingual African Tale" to get ready to be published in few months. The Gift (Le Cadeau, in French), is a fiction story that explains one of the oldest African traditions that is to always give thanks to spirits and our ancestors. I have just tried to imagine what happened in the past for Africans to behave like that (you will discover it). At the same time is an extraordinary journey (with no witchcraft) which will teach children the practice of kindness. The moral of this African tale is: "A person who feels appreciated will always do more than is expected. Treat nature and people with kindness and they will give it back to you".

The particularity of this book is that the story is written in two languages (English/French), perfect for children who want to learn French or English, and beautiful tools for Language centers. It will be great if I can have the funds before March 2018. I want the book to be ready to get published in June 2018 latest. Your help means a lot to me as this will also help me share my culture, specifically from Central Africa where I am from and that is not much known. Being a French speaker, writing a bilingual story is opening a window to the world. Another purpose is to fill the needed market of African writers/books and inspire young Africans with characters who resemble them while sharing our culture with others too. So this book has multiple purposes.
